POS solution integrates biometrics

DigitalPersona, a developer of biometric solutions, has announced that WAND, a developer of point of sales software solutions, has chosen DigitalPersona's U.are.U fingerprint scanners to be integrated into its solutions. The two products from WAND that will include the biometric capabilities are its NextGen POS and Classic POS.

The hope for WAND and their customers is that the introduction of biometrics at cash registers will allow for better control over instances of fraud and save organizations money. The intent would be for biometric data to replace passwords and swipe cards widely used in industries such as fast food. Additionally, the new solutions will allow organizations to attach specific transactions to specific employees.
